B. Wayne Coleman, CEO

Over the course of more than 36 years, Wayne has worked for ocean carriers, a vessel agencies, and freight forwarders before starting his own company. He started his career with a small, Norfolk, VA based freight forwarder, eventually moving on to a major vessel agency where he boarded vessels and worked closely with U. S. Customs, Immigration, the U.S. Coast Guard, and other government agencies on regulatory matters. Wayne's career took him to a major ocean carrier, where he progressed through ocean documentation, traffic, operations, and sales management.

In 1984 he opened his own business, Coleman International, today known as CV International (CVI), and acquired Capes Shipping Agencies (est. 1958) in 2003. Wayne and his executive team have overseen the growth and expansion of the company by focusing on results oriented solutions for customers. Under his leadership, the company has diversified from forwarding into customs brokerage, NVOCC, door-to-door cargo management, and complete vessel agency services. Wayne is active on the boards of several local charitable and maritime organizations, including the Advisory Council of the Old Dominion University Maritime Institute, and chairman of the membership committee of the Virginia Maritime Association.

Wayne received his bachelor of science in business administration from Old Dominion University and is a licensed customs broker.

Michael W. Coleman, PresidentMichael W. Coleman, President

Mike serves as President of Capes Shipping Agencies and its parent company CV International, Inc., a family owned full-service global logistics provider. He started working for the company in 1996 in ocean documentation and, after working in various capacities within the organization, was named President of CV International in 2006. He is responsible for the overall management, direction and growth of the company.

Mike has served on multiple trade boards and currently serves as an officer of the Virginia Maritime Association and board member of the Hampton Roads Shipping Association. He is an active member of the Propeller Club and the Hampton Roads Coal Association. He previously served as president of the Hampton Roads Global Commerce Council. Mike is a member of the adjunct faculty of the Old Dominion University Maritime Institute and makes regular presentations on a wide range of topics related to international trade.

Mike is an active member of local community organizations. He has previously served on the Board of the Norfolk Sister Cities Association. Mike currently serves on the Board of Trustees St. Andrew’s Episcopal School and as a member of the board of the Greater Norfolk Corporation. In 2015, he was included in Inside Business: The Hampton Roads Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40.

Mike received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond and his juris doctor from Louisiana State University where he was a member of the Louisiana Law Review. He is a licensed customs broker and is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Steve 194x250 2Steven W. Hagen, Vice President & General Manager

Steve serves as Vice President and General Manager of Capes Shipping Agencies. He is responsible for the management, operations and commercial development of Capes Shipping Agencies.

Steve began his career in 1988 as a boarding agent for a Hampton Roads ship agency.  Since that time, he has held leadership positions with both local and multinational agencies, most recently managing of all east coast port operations for a multinational ship agency. He has spent the majority of his career in Hampton Roads and has also worked in the ports of New York, Philadelphia, Tampa and Oakland. He is a proud veteran, having served in the United States Navy prior to starting his career in the shipping industry.

Steve has made a career of planning and executing operational, bulk shipping and supply chain solutions utilizing all modes of transportation. He has a record of success in business development, creation of innovative client solutions, and he maintains extensive port related government agency and private sector relationships.

Steve is an active member of the Hampton Roads Coal Association, the Virginia Maritime Association, and has served on the Board of the Propeller Club, Port of Norfolk. His diverse experience, deep network of contacts, and passion for shipping compliments Capes’ tradition of professional service.

MK 194x250Michael J. King, CPA, Vice President, Finance & Accounting

Michael serves as Vice President of Finance and Accounting for Capes Shipping Agencies and its parent company CV International, Inc. He is responsible for management and direction of accounting and finance, human resources and information technology. Michael received his bachelor’s degree in 1983 from Christopher Newport University. He licensed CPA within the Commonwealth of Virginia with over 25 years of accounting experience in public and private accounting.

Prior to joining the company, Michael was Chief Financial Officer of Marathon Development Group in Norfolk, VA. Previously, he served as Treasurer of Pre-Mix Industries, a multi-state manufacturer of Quikrete products, headquartered in Chesapeake, VA. He received his public accounting experience with the firm that is today Witt Mares and Company.
